Nintendo started bringing consoles to the public with the introduction of the NES-Nintendo Entertainment system in 1985. 60 million of these consoles were sold and for the first time we were introduced to Super Mario! The NES was a cartridge style console and games such as Zelda and Mega man were available.

In 1989 the Game Boy emerged-the first hand-held portable console and in 4 shades of grey. Tetris was the game that was linked with this console. The Game Boy was bulky and the graphics were blurry but it lasted 7 years or so before technology moved us on.

1991 saw the SNES arrive-the 16 bit Super Nintendo Entertainment System-the update of the successful NES. This technology enabled games to become more graphic and interesting and the SNES sold more than 49 million consoles all around the world!

In 1996 The Nintendo64 was released which saw an improvement in graphics again and 3D play. N64 as it was known was so-called because of its 64 bit CPU. It was the last of the consoles to use ROM cartridges. In this year came the Game Boy pocket-smaller than the original console and the outer casing came in a variety of colours. The screen display was till monochrome but clearer and bigger. Game Boy Color with its coloured graphics reached the shelves in 1998.

In 2001 the Game Boy was improved with the Game Boy Advance which came with a bigger screen and of course, better graphics! The design of the system allowed for comfort as it being shaped like the curves of a hand. It also had the ability to link up to four Advance systems together to allow for group competitive play.

During this year the GameCube introduced us to optical discs instead of the cartridge style of game and the graphics again had improved.

The portable market changed again when Nintendo brought out the Game Boy Advance SP in 2003 - lighter and smaller and with more user-friendly features. It was a foldable version of the original with the added benefit of a front-lit LCD screen.

Next came the Nintendo DS-with two screens, touch screen, microphone and numerous other features. It was a very popular portable hand-held device. In 2006 came the Nintendo DS lite- a smaller, lighter version.

The latest technology can be seen in the Nintendo Wii with its WiFi capability, wireless controllers and interactive games.

Nintendo has certainly moved with the times and kept up with technological advances whilst providing plenty of gaming fun and entertainment!

Gamers everywhere rejoice! The Sony Corporation has recently hinted at the fact they are developing a new gaming platform that might replace the aging Playstation 3. So, is the PS4 coming out soon? There is no confirmed release date as of yet. In fact, there are few confirmed facts at all, but we know the folks at Sony never rest. They are in hot pursuit of developing a next generation gaming console that will rival the Nintendo Wii 2 and the next upgrade of the Microsoft Xbox. So, the release of the PS4 can't be too far away. Can it?

How could the PS4 change your life?

If you are an avid video gamer, chances are good you understand the quantum leap of improvements the PS3 had over the PS2. Not only did the third generation have smoother graphics, but it offered better control and a wider array of gaining options. Just imagine what the PS4 will offer gaming fans. With the internet connectivity of the Microsoft Xbox, the intuition of the Nintendo Wii, and the portability of other promised gaming consoles, for just about anything is possible.

What can we expect?

Looking back at history, we can expect the PlayStation 4 will likely be released before the year 2016. How do we know that? Because the PlayStation 3 - which was released in 2006 - was given a shelf life of 10 years. After 2016, the PS3 will be outdated by Sony's own admission. Since the company has been struggling to make profits within the last few years, it is doubtful they would let their best-selling product run its entire course without releasing a new generation to take its place.

Besides an estimated release date, we can also expect smoother graphics, more intuitive play, more internet connectivity and best of all, a lower price. How do we come to the conclusion that it will be cheaper? Sony executives had admitted the overhead cost of the PlayStation 3 was monstrous. It is one of the reasons the company has been struggling. Sony's CFO Masaru Kato has mentioned the company cannot withstand another project with such a huge initial investment. This leads us to guess they will work to lower their older head cost while developing the PS4 - which will lead to a lower initial retail price. Good news for us all!

So, even though we all wish it was already here, we can foresee the PS4 coming out will change our collective gaming lives. We can expect better graphics and game play along with a lower price - two characteristics that will likely turn the PlayStation 4 into a mammoth best seller! If you want to stay up to date on all of the latest about the PS4, keep your eyes peeled and your ears open because new rumors are surfacing every day. But, until that glorious day when the new Sony PS4 is at last revealed, all we can do is use our judgment to separate fact from speculation.

The Nintendo Wii is the latest and undoubtedly one of the most popular video game consoles ever to be produced by Nintendo today. The console has made it into the hearts of numerous gamers be young and old. As one of the veterans of the video game world, Nintendo manufactured the Nintendo Wii as a successor to the Nintendo Gamecube console. It is also a seventh generation video game consoles along with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's Playstation 3. However, in comparison with the other two consoles, the Nintendo Wii offers one significantly unique feature in comparison to all previously released and existing video game consoles. It has a one of a kind unique controller unseen in any console before it.

The Nintendo Wii utilizes one handed controllers dubbed the "Wii Remote" that are similar in design to that of conventional television remote controls as opposed to the conventional two handed controllers. The Wii Remote is essentially made of a large number of accelerometers and infrared detection devices designed to be able to detect its location in 3D space. The controller is designed in such a way to allow gamers to enjoy their games by controlling everything from in-game characters and interactions via a combination of real life physical gestures and movements along with the use of the available buttons.

As such, the games presented on the Nintendo Wii allow for a completely new and diverse game play experience that appeals to players of all ages and groups. Due to the requirement of physical interaction for the game, this console has been deemed as a great way to exercise and has even begun to be utilized in physical therapy. Some of the examples would be bowling and even boxing games where players are required to conduct movements similar to that of the real sport such as the release of the ball in bowling. As a matter of fact, gamers playing bowling games actually have to go as far as to run and go into a bowling stance before the release as a method of providing a more realistic experience. The physical aspect combined with the enjoyment derived from a great game is a combination that Nintendo is pioneering as we speak.

Apart from that, Nintendo has also developed a great range of peripherals which aid in making the game much more realistic such as specialized controllers which include Nunchuk Wii Remote for games such as boxing. The Nunchuk model features a conventional analog stick and trigger buttons on one hand and the normal Wii Remote on the other hand allowing for more realistic moves such as guarding and jabbing. The boxing game essentially requires one to control the avatar via the controllers in the boxing ring and is considered as an excellent form of cardiovascular exercise.

The Wii is also favored by physical therapists as it is easier to handle and a much safer method of therapy. Lastly, the compatibility of the Wii with older Nintendo consoles such as the Gamecube means players can experience classic games from a brand new perspective.

Motion-controlled gaming isn't new to the world, but it's been picking up steam ever since the Nintendo Wii and the Kinect motion controller for the Xbox 360 were released. Both of these games engines offer motion controls to play games in a different way than was possible in the past. However, that's the only thing they have in common. Let's take a look at what makes them different.

Nintendo Wii ($140)

Nintendo was the first console maker to bring motion controls to gamers with the Wii. The idea is simple: players wave an IR-equipped controller to act out movements in the game. This feature is included into every game released on the Wii.

Pros:
+ Motion control comes standard with console
+ Large selection of games
+ Plenty of exclusives

Cons:
- Confusing button layout
- Very few Mature-rated games
- No HD graphics

Kinect for Xbox 360 ($150)

Kinect is essentially an add on controller that gamers can buy for the Xbox 360. It's basically a camera that tracks you're movements to control in-game characters and/or objects. It also allows Xbox owners to control their consoles using either hand gestures (Minority Report-style) or with voice commands thanks to the embedded microphone array.

Pros:
+ Most advanced motion controller system available
+ Tons of exclusive titles available
+ Can be used for multiple forms of entertainment

Cons:
- Expensive (for an add-on)
- Limited number of games available now
- Requires 6-8 Ft of space to use properly

So, which one is better? It depends on what you're looking for and which games you want to play. The Wii is a good choice for Nintendo fans and anyone who doesn't gawk at complicated button layouts. The Kinect is great for those who want serious, mature, HD games in which they can get fully immersed.

When it comes to technology alone, the Kinect wins by a significant margin. It may be expensive as an add-on, but the motion controller is worth every penny due to the number of other functions it provides. And if you don't already have an Xbox you can get the full bundle for around $300, which isn't that much for a console these days.

It can be used as a webcam, hands-free media remote, or just for voice chat in regular video games. Plus, the voice commands help to take motion out of the picture when gamers just want to buy new games, watch a movie, or listen to music on their 360 after playing for a long period of time.

You can rent games for both the Wii and the Kinect from games frenzy, making it easy to try before you buy and get more out of your games consoles.

There have recently been a large number of PS3 systems that have been infected with the yellow light of death. Fixing PS3 systems that have developed this issue can be a very difficult task if you have not received proper instruction about how to deal with this sort of issue. Many console owners, which have been affected by this error, venture into trying to repair their systems with ineffective methods such as sending your console to other businesses for repair services or trying to fix it themselves without proper instruction. If you have found that your system has been infected with the yellow light of death, or any other fatal error, this is the resource that is going to show you a few simple methods which may remedy your system. Also, if these quick fixes do not remedy your system I will lead you to a deeper repair opportunity for your broken PS3.

As soon as you notice your system has demonstrated some type of fatal error, such as the yellow light of death, you should immediately take your system through a few steps. The first thing you should check is the system's cable connections. You should test to see if the inputs that are connecting to the system have provided a firm connection, to be sure of this simply disconnect and reconnect each cable that is connected to the system. If you find that this was not the problem that has been causing these errors, you should now check your hard drive. Simply remove the cover from the hard drive bay and remove the hard drive, make sure there is no power going to the system as you perform this process. After you remove the hard drive simply reconnect it and confirm that it has a complete connection.

If your console remains unaffected by these techniques you should now check to see if your system is overheating. This has been the case for many PS3 owners that have been affected by this problem. If your system is placed in an area where cool air cannot circulate through the system you should immediately place it in a more open area. Errors such as the yellow light of death can come directly from your system overheating and not having the ability to cool itself as it were intended.

If you find that these simple solutions have not provided your system with a repair, the problem is going to most definitely need further instruction. Once you have found yourself in this predicament you have two major choices, that being to simply fix the system yourself, assisted with a thorough instruction guide, or allow a repair service to fix your system at a higher price.

The process of a self-repair is very simplistic to complete. If you have ever used a screwdriver for the simplest processes, you can most definitely complete a PS3 repair. But, this is something you do not want to attempt without proper instruction. If you want to acquire the best opportunity you have in repairing your PS3 system, you should visit this website's home page: PS3 Broken-Fix Any PS3 for a resource that will make fixing PS3  systems a breeze.

Having a broken PS3 can ruin your day and your total gaming experience. There are a lot of ways out there on the internet on the proper fix for the YLOD Problem. Most the ones that are found on the internet will either not help you at all or it will even damage your console more. Before I go go into the proper fix for the YLOD I want tell you about some other ways that people have been trying to fix their PS3 consoles.

PS3 YLOD Wrong Fix #1 - Using YouTube

YouTube is a great video site which has videos on about every topic you can think of. When it comes to videos on fixing your console it is not the best way. The first reason is that many of the videos are not clear at all. When your inside of your PS3 things can get a little tricky so being able to see exactly what you are doing can be the difference between a working console or a console you took apart trying to fix it but ending up worst than before. The next thing that is wrong with this method is that you have no written guide to go along with it. Like some people I sometimes get lost on watching videos on how to do things, especially long ones.

PS3 YLOD Wrong Fix #2 - Letting Sony Fix It

If you you a proper fix for the YLOD you should never send your console to Sony. They charge $100+ dollars to get your console fixed. That is very overpriced considering that you probably payed $200 or more to get your console. On top of that $100 or more you have to wait over a month to get your console back. That is such a long time to wait when you want to be playing your console. During that time you are probably missing out on playing a videogame like gears of war 3 or MW3 hen they first. These two things are a hassle which why I won't recommend sending your console back to Sony as a proper fix for the YLOD.

Proper Fix For The YLOD- Repairing It Yourself

When it come to the proper fix for the YLOD you should think about doing it yourself using a well-established guide for fixing consoles. These include the best guides to get your console up and running in a matter of days. They are also a lot cheaper than spending a $100 because they only cost around $20-$30. They also usually come with a 60 day money back guarantee that will give you back 100% of your spent money. Some of these guides include the PS3 Light Fix and the YLOD Repair Wizard guides.

In this day and age almost every home in the developed world has a video games console of some sort, and lets be honest, who doesn't love to play games on the big screen? However, a revolution is taking place in the gaming world, and it looks as though things may change whether we like it or not.

The revolution that we are talking about is the mobile gaming revolution. The mobile gaming revolution really started back in 1989 when Nintendo launched the Gameboy. The Gameboy changed the way we consumed virtual entertainment, even though technology was limited at that time, the world embraced portable gaming, and ever since the original monochrome gaming device hit the streets, companies around the world have been trying to make mobile gaming devices more powerful. Not only have been working on the power of the machines, they have also been working on trying to make mobile gaming appeal to a broader audience.

Through the years many companies tried, and failed to recreate the success that Nintendo had with the Gameboy. Sega tried to join in on the fun with the Sega GameGear, which was the first portable gaming device that had a color screen. The GameGear had limited success, but it did create a cult following which is still alive and well today. Then Atari entered the market with the Atari Lynx. Atari had absolutely no luck, and the Lynx died a horrible death, but In 2008, the mobile gaming world was turned on it's head.

Apple launched the iPhone in 2007, and one year later they introduced the world to the app store. Soon after the release of the app store, iPhone users has access to hundreds of gaming applications, most only costing.99 cents. The games didn't just appeal to the casual gamer but some of the games interested hardcore gamers too. Pretty soon mobile gaming and the iPhone was on everyone's mind. Soon after the launch of the app store all of the major video game companies stepped up their efforts to win over mobile gamers.

Playtime is anytime, anywhere

Today, the market is flooded with devices that all offer mobile gaming. Nintendo has the DS, DSi, DSi XL and the Nintendo 3DS. Sony has the PSP and the Sony Experia Play, which is a phone that has a PlayStation built in, and the soon to be released PS Vita. There are also millions of smartphones in peoples pockets that can all play games. The mobile gaming market is truly exploding.

While some devices offer games that appeal to hardcore gamers, most true gamers still like to play on home consoles like the PS3 and Xbox 360, and honestly who can blame them. Home consoles offer outstanding graphics, explosive sound, and games that are much more in-depth and involving. Until now none of the portable devices have really succeeded in pulling the heavy gamers away from the home console scene entirely, But that could be about to change.

What does the future hold?

Sony recently showed off their latest handheld games machine, the PS Vita. The Vita is the successor to the somewhat popular PSP, and while it looks pretty similar to its predecessor, it could not be more different.

The PS Vita is really revolutionary. Inside that small portable device you will find components that will make the Vita just as powerful as Sony's PS3. The Vita will also be as powerful (if not more so) than Microsoft's Xbox 360. The Vita will be able to offer mobile games that will truly rival games that only used to be possible to play on the more powerful home consoles. The Vita could be the handheld that will finally break the strangle hold that home consoles have on the market.

Smartphones are another way to play games while on the move. Smartphones are becoming more powerful every week it seems, in fact a lot of Android based devices now offer dual-core processors and large amounts of RAM. Smartphones, and the games contained in the respective app stores ate evolving as a dramatic rate. Games on smartphones are not just cute, fun little games to play while waiting at the doctors anymore. The games available can be large, just as in-depth as some console games, not to mention that physics and graphics have also improved since the first iPhone games back in 2008.

Is this farewell?

Mobile gaming is being taken to new heights every other week. New games are coming out for both smartphones and portable devices that are taking the breath away from gamers around the globe. New innovative features in mobile devices like touch screens, 3D graphics, external bluetooth controllers, and HDMI out ports will change the way we play games.

I am sure the home console will never fully disappear, but I do think that they will move away from being the machines that offer users their core gaming experiences. In the future, I think machines like the PS3 and the XBOX 360 will serve as home media hubs more than just gaming machines, in fact, that change is already taking place. Both the PS3 and the XBOX offer movie and music streaming services, and both will soon offer cable TV services. The change is happening right before our eyes, but this is not a bad thing.

Imagine being able to play the latest blockbuster game on your mobile device while you are sitting on a train heading home from work, then when you get home you connect your smartphone, or dedicated mobile gaming device like the PS Vita to your TV wirelessly over your Wi-Fi network or via a dock. You then pick up a bluetooth controller, sit on your couch and continue to play the game right where you left off from while you were on the train. This is the future of gaming, and will be the end of the home console as we currently know it.
